“ | These must be the robots that built this factory. I thought they had all been torn apart and scrapped for parts years ago. Oh look! There's one left. It's so cute! But the pipe is right behind his head. Well... you can't stop progress. | ” |

You Have To Explode The Head is a level in the video game World of Goo. It is the eighth level of Chapter 3. In this level, there is a defunct yellow robot with its spiky rotating head blocking the path to the pipe. Before building to it, the player must time the Sticky Bomb to explode when it is attached to head unblocking the pipe. There are a few different methods to get to the sleeping Sticky Bomb hanging over the head, some more efficient than others.
Strategy[]
The structure is difficult to build high enough because of the lack of support available. When you are very close to the bomb, build faster. You could also build on both sides and connect the towers above the head.
OCD Strategy[]
The intended way is a little too difficult here. Instead, start by putting all of the Red Goos on the small structure. Then start throwing them at the ground at an angle in which they rebound off of the ground, rebound again off the wall, touch the fire, and make it to the Sticky Bomb. It may take a while.
Trivia[]
- The title of this level is a reference to a small game titled You Have To Burn The Rope.
- Unlike other levels, the title doesn't use proper capitalization (The "To" and "The" should not be uppercase).
- The tagline is a reference to an earlier version of this level called "Cog in the Machine". That version had a giant gear which the player had to build around to get to the pipe.[1]
- This level features a unique art style of a yellow-green background with greenish turf.
