This whole island is a factory! It appears they are doing outsource work for World of Goo Corporation. Probably building some kind of new hi-tech product. ...way over here on the other side of the world!

Chapter 3 is the third chapter of the video game World of Goo. The byline of the chapter is "Cog in the Machine." This chapter introduces several new Goo species, most notably, the flammable Fuse Goo. As Chapter 2 took place in fall, Chapter 3 takes place in winter, though several of the levels appear similar to those in summer. Chapter 3 is a satire on industrialization and big business. After finishing Product Launcher, the final level of Chapter 3, Chapter 4 is unlocked.

Story[]

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

More mysterious pipes appeared up in the sky! What are they building in this factory? There is a rumor... "Everything changes in Chapter 4". Whatever that means.

—the intrepid Sign Painter
[Second Hand Smoke]

The plotline of Chapter 3 starts in a factory, presumably the one mentioned at the end of Chapter 2. As the player progresses through the levels, getting closer and closer to the top of the factory, it is hinted several times that World of Goo Corporation is planning to unveil a new product, "Product Z." In the last level, Product Launcher, Product Z is successfully launched. Much to the alarm of those who are watching, Product Z is a large square that encases the world, and turns it into 3D. Unfortunately for the player, they are now "incompatible with the world," and must "call tech support on The Information Superhighway". This leads into Chapter 4.
